Case Study

The University Of Iowa

The University of Iowa is one of the nation's premier public research universities with 32,948 students from 114 countries and all 50 states. Founded in 1847, it is the state's oldest institution of higher education. A member of the Association of American Universities since 1909 and the Big Ten Conference since 1899, the UI is home to one of the largest and most acclaimed medical centers in the country, as well as the famous Iowa Writers' Workshop.

Faced with increased competitive pressure, The University Of Iowa embarked on a brand development initiative with the intention of doing most of the work themselves, and only drawing on outside resources for complex, specialized parts of it. Senior leaders found The Blake Project through Branding Strategy Insider where our perspectives on issues like brand architecture helped them understand what they needed to do before they considered engaging a brand consultancy. They soon realized they needed an expert to guide the senior leadership team past internal barriers and unify stakeholders on the strategic direction of their brands.

The Blake Project's workshops on Mission, Visiion, Values, Brand Positioning and Brand Architecture gave them the clarity and confidence they needed. We guided them past a critical point in their brand initiative and set them on a course for a more competitive future.
